Yiu Chung (YC) Lee, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Dr. Lee has joined the Company as the CEO and a director since August 2009. Dr. Lee brings into the Company more than 20 years of extensive pharmaceutical and business development experiences. Dr. Lee is a co-founder and the CEO of Xphase Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dr. Lee became Senior Director at PharmEng Technology Inc. in 2006 when it acquired PharmLink Inc., a company co-founded by Dr. Lee in 2005 where he led a group of 20 scientists providing pharmaceutical related services. Prior to focusing his career on strategic corporate development, Dr. Lee was Director of Analytical Development at Patheon Inc. where his laboratories developed more than 40 new chemical entities for global regulatory submissions from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Lee also held several senior managerial positions including Manager of Analytical Development during his 11 years at Eli Lilly Canada Inc. He is the founder of Calibration & Validation Group, a non-profit organization with more than 1,500 analytical and formulation scientists from the industry, academia and government agencies across Canada.
Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. degree in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. He authored over 12 technical publications and presentations and holds one patent.
Christina Yip, BBA, CMA
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Secretary
Ms. Yip has been the CFO and Secretary of the Company since April 2006. Prior to joining Pacgen, Ms. Yip acted as Vice President of Finance and Administration and Assistant Corporate Secretary to Cardiome Pharma Corp. ("Cardiome"), a life sciences company listed on the TSX and the NASDAQ National Market. Ms. Yip was integrally involved in various corporate finance activities including TSX listing, NASDAQ listing, acquisition of two US life sciences companies, and various public and private financings. Prior to joining Cardiome, Ms. Yip acted as Chief Accountant to West African Minerals Group, a group of mining companies listed on the Exchange and as an articling accountant to Cinnamon, Jang, Willoughby & Company, Chartered Accountants.
Ms. Yip received her Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) degree from Simon Fraser University and her professional accounting degree from the Certified Management Accountants of BC.
Beverly Incledon, Ph.D.
Vice President, Research and Development
Dr. Incledon has joined the Company as Vice President, Research and Development since August 2009 leading all research and development projects and evaluating related business development opportunities. Dr. Incledon is a strategic and deliberative scientist who brings into the Company with more than 14 years of pharmaceutical industry experiences and extensive knowledge in drug development and manufacturing operations. Prior to joining Pacgen, Dr. Incledon held several positions with increasingly senior responsibilities before assuming his role as Director, Research and Development at Eli Lilly Canada Inc. from April 2000 to June 2009. Dr. Incledon also held various research and scientist positions at Glaxo Wellcome Inc. (Canada), University of Guelph, Syntex Inc., and the Canadian Red Cross Society.
Dr. Incledon was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Cornell University. Dr. Incledon obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biophysics and Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Applied Biochemistry with a Minor in Biomedical Technology from the University of Guelph.
Lewis Choi, Ph.D.
Vice President, Intellectual Properties and Scientific Affairs
Dr. Choi has been Vice President, Intellectual Properties and Scientific Affairs since August 2009. Prior to his promotion, Dr. Choi served as Vice President, Research overseeing and managing all aspects of research and intellectual properties from April 2007 to August 2009. Prior to joining Pacgen, Dr. Choi acted as research and intellectual property consultant to various biopharmaceutical companies including Cardiome Pharma Corp. (“Cardiome”), Verona Pharma and Pacgen. Previous to this, Dr. Choi acted as Director of Intellectual Property to Cardiome. Dr. Choi also held various management and research positions in both the industry and academia settings including Inex Pharmaceuticals Corp. and the University of British Columbia. He also co-founded a contract research organization, Northern Lipids Inc.
Dr. Choi received his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry and Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry from the University of London, United Kingdom. He is a co-inventor of over 30 issued patents and pending patent applications and a co-author of over 40 scientific publications and presentations.
Joel Cheng, B.Sc.
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Cheng has joined the Company as Vice President, Business Development since August 2009. Mr. Cheng has over 26 years of broad experience in sales, marketing, business development and corporate management in the North America. Mr. Cheng is a co-founder of Xphase Pharmaceuticals Inc. He was Senior Director at PharmEng International Inc. and Managing Director at PharmLink Inc. from 2005 to 2008. Prior to this, Mr. Cheng served as Director of Sales for New Products at MDS SCIEX where he was responsible chiefly for its annual sales revenue of $280 million. Mr. Cheng also held various managerial leadership positions at Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies including Manager of Bio-Reagent, Worldwide Channel Manager, and Western Canada Business Team Manager.
Mr. Cheng received his Bachelor’s Co-op degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Waterloo University.
Gabriel Lam
Senior Director, Greater China Operations
Mr. Lam has joined the Company as Senior Director, Greater China Operations since August 2009. Mr. Lam is a co-founder of Xphase Pharmaceuticals Inc. He was Senior Director at PharmEng International Inc. from 2006 to 2008. Prior to this, Mr. Lam was the President of Rootlink Technic Inc. where he created and oversaw a broad service program which incorporated the best practices in education, policy, validation and compliance monitoring. Mr. Lam also held various senior managerial positions at Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies including Sales Engineer in Shanghai, China and Product Specialist for Agilent Canada from 1984 to 2001. Mr. Lam currently serves as Education Director of the Calibration and Validation Group, a non-profit organization with more than 1,500 analytical and formulation scientists from the industry, academia and government agencies across Canada.
Mr. Lam received his higher diploma in Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.
